What is the right curly brace for?
The right curly brace } closes a block opened with Left curly brace {. Every opening brace needs a closing one; otherwise the program will not compile or the JSON file is invalid.
.button {
border-radius: 8px;
}
Common uses:
- the end of a function, loop or condition;
- the end of a JSON object or CSS rule;
- the end of a set in mathematics: {a, b, c}.
Pitfalls
- Unbalanced braces: most editors highlight the matching brace when the cursor is on one. Use it to find the missing one.
- The combination depends on the layout: on French – Numerical it is ⌥ Option+).
- The right square bracket Right square bracket ] is often right next to it: check what you typed.
