Keyboards and accessories
Choosing a keyboard in the right layout, and accessories that make special characters easier to type.
Choosing a keyboard in the right layout
- ISO or ANSI: European keyboards (French, Spanish, German) are ISO, with an extra key next to the left Shift. US keyboards are ANSI. An ANSI keyboard used with a European layout is missing a key.
- Key legends: on a Mac, a keyboard printed for Mac (Option, Command) avoids surprises.
- Layout: our layout pages show exactly what each key types, so you can compare before you buy.
Keycap stickers
If your keyboard is not printed in the right language, transparent stickers can show the right layout without replacing the keyboard.
Macro pads and programmable buttons
For characters you type often (braces, em dashes, curly quotes), a small programmable keypad or button box can insert each character with a single press.
